Frequently Asked Questions
What are the options for rural studetns other than zoom?
We've got some answers...
2 hours, sometimes we shrink a session to 1.5 hours if students need support reintegrating into school after a long break. But research tells us that longer sessions with regular breaks are the best way to support memory retention.
We understand your frustration, and we'd love to post our pricing on the website. We don't because each student's sessions look different, our tutors' driving requirements vary, and our prices change by year level. So if you are interested in our service, please fill out the intake form so we can give you an accurate estimate.
Yes! We do. But we only recommend online sessions for students in years 10-12 becuase they require fewer physical learning tools. We will also recommend online sessions for students who live more than 1 hour from Adelaide CBD. While we can still come ot you, the driving fee per session can get high quite fast.
Yes! All of our tutors are trained to support as many learning difficulties as possible. We are yet to have a student we haven't been able to support.
Yes, we can. While we don't generally come to regular meetings, we are able to attend some meetings to support student advocacy, create learning plans, and provide support resources to teaching staff. This comes at an additional cost; for more information, please contact My Own Mind.
If attending meetings isn't your style and you would rather give teaching staff a document. After supporting a student for a term, we can provide teaching staff with a comprehensive document outlining the strategies that worked well and how to integrate them into the classroom, along with other observations and suggestions. This comes at an additional cost; for more information, please contact My Own Mind.
We understand that accessing educational support in rural and remote areas can be challenging. That’s why we’ve developed an at-home learning kit that provides personalised support, with regular reviews and adjustments each term.
How it works
The process begins with an online assessment to identify the areas where your student may be experiencing difficulties. Based on the results, our tutor identifies gaps in knowledge and provides parents with tailored guidance and activities to target their child’s specific learning needs.
Midway through the term, the tutor checks in with the family to review progress and determine whether any adjustments to the learning plan are needed.
At the end of the term, a final online assessment evaluates your child’s progress. A new report is then prepared to guide learning priorities and activities for the following term, ensuring support continues to evolve with your child’s needs.
